Reducing Emissions from Manure Management

Mitigating emissions from manure requires an understanding of the baseline emissions, and the emission strategies. Baseline emissions are highly variable, depending on the livestock type, manure storage system, and temperature. The highest and most concentrated emission source is from liquid manure in warm regions, and warm seasons. Note that “manure management” emissions refer to the storage and handling; not emissions after manure applied to soil.
