Current research and/or projects

Develop biological agents to control root rot of pulse crops

Apply transcriptomics and metabolomics approaches to elucidate the molecular mechanism of aphanomyces root rot of field pea

Survey major diseases of pulse crops in Saskatchewan

Research and/or project statements

  • Develop sustainable and environment friendly plant disease management strategy
  • Apply omics approaches (transcriptomics and metabolomics) in non-model plant (pulses) research for knowledge generation that would be useful in translational research

Professional activities / interests

  • Functional genomics
  • Molecular biology
  • Plant-microbe interactions
  • Metabolomics

Education and awards

Ph.D. Plant Molecular Biology, Ehime University, Japan, 2003

M.Sc. Genetic and Plant Breeding, Institute of Postgraduate Studies in Agriculture, Bangladesh, 1997

International experience and/or work

I did postdoctoral research at the Institute of Plant Biochemistry, Germany from April 2006 to March 2008 with a Fellowship from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. My project was focused on to develop synthetic promoter (synthetic biology) for transcriptional regulation and in vivo localization of jasmonic acid.
