Current research and/or projects

Ms. Paul is a marine biologist with 10 years of experience working with a wide variety of fish species from groundfish to small and large pelagics, both in the field and in fisheries stock assessment and research. She has fostered an amicable relationship with many members of the Atlantic Canadian fishing industry and has been successful in developing collaborative relations with international scientists.

Ms. Paul is the Canadian lead for North Atlantic swordfish and other tuna (albacore, bigeye and yellowfin) stock assessments within the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) forum, and also contributes in West Atlantic bluefin tuna assessments. In 2006 she delivered the science advice for these large pelagic species to the Atlantic Large Pelagics Advisory Committee and other Working Groups, and provided scientific advice as a member of the Canadian delegation at the annual ICCAT Commission meeting.
