Résumé

Potato wart disease is caused by a fungal pathogen called Synchytrium endobioticum. The detection of potato wart disease in PEI in 2000 has caused about $100 million in losses because the US placed an embargo on potato export from that province for a few months. This poster recounts the story of research collaboration between AAFC and CFIA in the last sixteen years, from PCR test development for detection to genome sequencing of this important pathogen.
