Résumé en langage clair
In this annual report to our Collaborators at Neskonlith Indian Band, we demonstrate our findings for year one of our Alternative Pest Management Solutions project (J-002881), which continues work initiated under a previous A-Base project (J-002265). Here, we highlight research efforts in collaboration with NIB and Parks Canada (Mount Revelstoke National Park) on the revitalisation of the culturally significant food plant scwicw (avalanche or glacier lily, Erythronium grandiflorum). Briefly, we documented pest and weed pressure at three study sites, developed phenology models based on growing degree days, conducted propagation tests, and investigated bulb preservation techniques. All these studies contribute to a holistic understanding of this species, which responds directly to the needs of our collaborators at NIB.
