Parasitism of apple leaf curling midge in Canadian apple orchards.

Apple leaf curling midge (ALCM) is an important pest across Canada apple production regions. Biological control agents have been introduced into Nova Scotia in the later 1990s. As the pest has gained importance in British Columbia the need to understand how well these biological controls agents are controlling ALCM in Nova Scotia is required. There is interest to introduce them into British Columbia but host range needs to be carefully evaluated. Monitoring for ALCM in ON, BC and NS disclosed that all provinces have significant ALCM populations. Biological control agents present in NS are different from those found in ON. Currently no biological control agents are present in BC.
