Énoncés de recherches/projets

En tant qu’expert de la modélisation des agroécosystèmes, Ward dirige des travaux de recherche pour évaluer la résilience et la durabilité des systèmes culturaux du Canada. Il intègre de nouvelles connaissances tirées d’expériences agronomiques à des modèles qu’il utilise pour étudier les répercussions des pratiques de gestion agricole sur la productivité des cultures, le carbone organique dans le sol, les émissions de GES, la volatilisation de l’ammoniac et les pertes de nutriments causés par les tuyaux de drainage et le ruissellement. Il étudie des façons de réduire les répercussions négatives des changements climatiques sur les systèmes culturaux et recense les sols à risque au Canada. Ward dirige plusieurs études internationales qui visent à améliorer et à comparer les modèles agricoles ou y contribue à des telles études.
