Naomi travaille actuellement sur des solutions de stockage et de valorisation des fruits et des baies en tant que membre de l’équipe de recherche sur les bioproduits et les bioprocédés du Centre de recherche et de développement (CRD) de Summerland. 

Inspirée par la science étonnante qu’elle observe dans l’ensemble d’AAC, Naomi travaille avec l’équipe des communications de la DGST pour rédiger un blogue, La science à Summerland, afin de partager avec les Canadiens les points saillants des recherches intrigantes du CRD de Summerland.   

La maîtrise de Naomi (Université Simon Fraser) portait sur l’écologie chimique et la lutte biologique, où elle a découvert des substances sémiochimiques spécifiques à utiliser dans la lutte intégrée contre un important ravageur des pommes, le carpocapse. Depuis lors, Naomi est l’auteur de diverses publications scientifiques et de guides de lutte contre les ravageurs, et a travaillé sur l’écologie chimique des pommes, la lutte contre les ravageurs des cerises et l’entomologie de la vigne.

Avec une expérience à AAC qui couvre de nombreux aspects de la chaîne alimentaire, des insectes, champignons et maladies, à la transformation des aliments, Naomi est dans une position unique pour promouvoir la science de Summerland.

Recherche et / ou projets en cours

Naomi contribue à la sécurité alimentaire des Canadiens en travaillant sur la recherche visant à réduire les déchets alimentaires horticoles et à soutenir le développement de nouvelles possibilités agroalimentaires par l’identification des attributs alimentaires et la transformation à valeur ajoutée.
