Recherche et / ou projets en cours

Le programme de recherche du Dr Lessard contribue à améliorer la santé des porcelets en examinant des stratégies alimentaires et vaccinales visant à renforcer l’immunité des porcs et à réduire l’utilisation d’antibiotiques dans la production porcine. Des concepts complexes d’immunologie, de microbiologie et nutrition sont considérés pour mieux comprendre les interactions hôte-microbiote et le développement du système immunitaire. Il coordonne et collabore à de nombreux projets multidisciplinaires impliquant des institutions nationales et internationales. Les objectifs sectoriels ciblés par les travaux du Dr Lessard sont donc : (1) Accroître la productivité agricole et  (2) Éliminer les menaces contre la chaîne de valeur agricole et agroalimentaire.
