L'expertise en méthodes comprend des examens systématiques, des examens de cadrage, des méta-analyses, des examens rapides, la surveillance de la littérature, la modélisation des décisions et l'application des connaissances pour un large éventail de publics.

 

Recherche et / ou projets en cours

La synthèse des données probantes est fondamentale pour la prise de décision en matière de santé publique. Mes recherches portent sur l'application d'une variété de méthodes de synthèse pour répondre aux besoins en données probantes sur les enjeux prioritaires de santé publique au Canada.
Bien que les méthodes de synthèse puissent être appliquées à n’importe quel sujet, mon expertise porte sur les maladies infectieuses, notamment la COVID-19, et sur un large éventail de maladies liées à la sécurité alimentaire, à transmission vectorielle et aux zoonoses.
Méthodes clés :
Les examens de cadrage et les cartes de données probantes sont utilisés pour décrire les données probantes qui sous-tendent un vaste domaine et fournissent des informations sur les domaines dans lesquels des recherches sont menées et sur les domaines où existent des lacunes dans les connaissances.
Les revues systématiques et les revues rapides identifient, évaluent et synthétisent les preuves sur un sujet/une question ciblée, par exemple si une intervention est efficace, et décrivent la confiance dans ces preuves.
La méta-analyse est une technique statistique qui combine des informations quantitatives provenant de plusieurs études identifiées dans une revue systématique pour créer une mesure récapitulative unique et plus précise de l'effet. Il peut être utilisé pour comparer des interventions efficaces (méta-analyse en réseau) ou pour rechercher pourquoi les études ne concordent pas (méta-régression).
Les nouvelles méthodes qui ont été développées et utilisées lors d'un événement de santé publique comprennent la surveillance de la littérature et les résumés de preuves vivantes orientés vers l'identification et la synthèse continues des preuves pour soutenir la prise de décision dans une situation en évolution rapide.
Lorsque ces méthodes sont appliquées à des questions de santé publique pertinentes, les produits peuvent être utilisés pour aider les décideurs à comprendre les preuves disponibles, leur fiabilité et les lacunes dans les connaissances. Les résultats de la synthèse des connaissances peuvent être utilisés directement dans la prise de décision fondée sur des données probantes ou peuvent être utilisés comme intrants fondés sur des données probantes pour les évaluations des risques et d’autres modèles d’analyse décisionnelle.
