Le Dr Lonsdale étudie actuellement les mouches importantes pour l'agriculture et leurs espèces apparentées, en particulier les mouches minières (Agromyzidae), qui comprennent un certain nombre de ravageurs des cultures et d'espèces exotiques envahissantes..

Énoncés de recherches/projets

- Révisions systématiques des genres d'Agromyzidae, notamment ceux du Canada.

- Traitements globaux des genres agromyzidés et de leurs hôtes en mettant l'accent sur l'impact agricole et les espèces envahissantes.

- Études sur la détention de spécimens du CNC, en mettant l'accent sur les spécimens de type nominatif et les inventaires taxonomiques.
