Étude des impacts de variables environnementales comme la température, l'oxygène dissous, le pH sur la physiologie des poissons et invertébrés marins, de même qu'étude du réseau trophique parmi les poissons et invertébrés de l'estuaire et du golfe du Saint-Laurent

Recherche et / ou projets en cours

Ma problématique de recherche principale consiste à déterminer comment des variables environnementales comme la température, la teneur en oxygène dissous ou le pH, seules ou ensemble, peuvent influencer le taux métabolique des poissons et crustacés marins. J'étudie également comment ces variables environnementales peuvent influencer la survie, la croissance et la distribution de ces animaux. Ces travaux permettent de mieux comprendre comment l'environnement actuel influence l'abondance et la distribution des espèces commerciales. On peut aussi combiner les connaissances ainsi acquises à des modèles qui fournissent des projections de température, d'oxygène dissous et de pH dans le futur, en réponse au changement climatique. Il devient donc possible d'estimer la réponse des poissons et crustacés à ces modifications de leur environnement.

Un autre aspect de mon travail porte sur les liens trophiques des principales espèces commerciales de poissons et d'invertébrés de la région du Québec, c'est à dire que je regarde qui mange qui! 

Finalement, je suis membre de l'Unité de Recherche en Physiologie de la Conservation des Anarhichadidés (URPC_A) et poursuis donc des projets de recherche pour mieux comprendre l'impact de l'environnement sur le loup tacheté, une espèce en péril, ainsi que d'autres travaux visant de lancer l'aquaculture de loup tacheté comme nouvelle industrie

- Je suis un spécialiste de la respirométrie, ou mesure de la consommation oxygène des poissons et invertébrés. J'ai publié plusieurs articles sur l'amélioration des techniques dans le domaine et sur les méthodes d'analyse des données. Ceci inclut la publication d'un package R, fishMO2 (voir ci-dessous)
