A list of the species of the insect order Hymenoptera (ants, bees and wasps) recorded from Australasia is presented. In total, 12 described species in four families are recorded, but in addition, more than 20 undescribed species are presumed to be aquatic because of their relatedness to aquatic species. An illustrated key to the families of aquatic Hymenoptera is provided as well as a discussion on their biology and possible diversity of aquatic species.
