Plain language summary

This study reports the first occurrence of the invasive lily leaf beetle feeding on the native Michigan lily. It also confirms earlier findings that the native rose twisted stalk can also be fed on by lily leaf beetle. These findings suggest that native plant species related to Asiatic lilies could serve as new hosts for lily leaf beetle and provide a refuge from natural enemies that would otherwise kill this beetle.
