Plain language summary
Carrot rust fly (CRF) is a serious pest of carrot on Prince Edward Island. The PEI Horticultural Association has surveyed for this pest since 2010. These data were taken and examined using ARC-GIS to elucidate any patterns in space and time. Results indicate that crop rotation by growers is a successful strategy to reduce incidence of carrot rust fly in carrot fields on PEI.
Abstract
Carrot rust fly (CRF) is a persistent pest of carrot on Prince Edward Island. Using historical survey records from the PEI Horticultural Association, a spatial examination of the incidence of carrot rust fly over time was conducted. Results demonstrated how crop rotation is serving to reduce carrot rust fly populations on PEI.
