Developing scientific and operational knowledge, practices and technologies to enhance environmental emergency preparedness and mitigate risk
- Oil spill environmental forensics: fingerprinting of oil hydrocarbons (including bicyclic sesquiterpane and diamondoid biomarkers and alkylated PAHs) and source identification
- Fate, behaviour, weathering and biodegradation of spilled oil and other hazardous organics in the environment
- Characterization and differentiation of pyrogenic PAHs and biogenic hydrocarbons from petrogenic hydrocarbons
- Identifying and quantifying petroleum hydrocarbons and biologic hydrocarbons in storm water management facilities and bird oiled at sea program
- Development of oil composition database and application of multi-variate statistical strategy for data processing and evaluation

Environmental forensics sciences of oil and chemical spills; development of advanced oil spill fingerprinting and tracing technologies and methodologies
