Yanjun Wang

Research Scientist

Current research and/or projects

Dr. Wang has recently (September 2007) joined the Population Ecology Section at SABS as a Research Scientist specializing in quantitative fisheries ecology . Her research interests include fish population dynamics, fisheries stock assessment, fisheries biology and fisheries management. Her research focuses on fisheries stock assessment methods, such as statistical analysis and mathematical modeling, parameter estimation methods, stock assessment model selection, Monte Carlo simulation techniques, Bayesian analysis and bootstrap resampling method. Before joining the SABS research team, she was an A ssociate Professor at the Ocean University of China. She has extensive research experience.

Some recent highlights of her research include:

  • Research on age, growth, maturity and spawning of finspotted flounder in the East China Sea (Supported by Ministry of Fisheries of Japan).
  • Research on Population Dynamics of Herring and Anchovy in the Yellow and Bohai Seas. (Supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China)
  • Research on Population Dynamics and sustainable exploitation of Spanish Mackeral of the Yellow and Bohai Seas.( Supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China)
  • Research on the response of biodiversity and fishing ground dynamics to the marine physical environmental evolution in typical waters. (The National Basic Research Program of China)

Dr. Wang also has nine years of teaching experience. She has taught undergraduate courses on "fisheries stock assessment", "fisheries biology", and "fishery computing techniques", as well as a graduate course on "biological data analysis".
