*Manage a team of seven professionals responsible for the coordination of our research lab’s dealing with external stakeholders from industry, academia and international collaborators.
*Coordinate the use of appropriate mechanisms, including collaborative research arrangements, the establishment of consortia, or the provision of fee-for-service research and testing agreements in order to meet our mission: to lead the development of energy science and technology solutions for the environmental and economic benefit of Canadians.
*Lead outreach and communications activities including site visits, our lab's internal and external communications and business development.
*Support certain administrative undertakings such as the IT requirements of the lab and business reporting.
Our lab's scientific expertise, honed across a wide range of Canadian and international industry segments, along with our pilot-scale facilities, help to accelerate the advancement of clean energy technologies throughout the innovation cycle, from the initial research stage through to commercialization. I have a broad background in business and intellectual property management including the negotiation and development of business agreements and contracting for research & development, technology and knowledge transfer/dissemination, and licensing. Earlier experiences in government include: the development of international S&T partnering; international trade & investment; economic development policy; and the management and delivery of grant & contribution funding for both large-scale R&D projects and regional economic development. My private sector experiences include corporate financial restructuring and bankruptcy (Ernst & Young Inc.), consulting (Ernst & Young Inc.), business development (private start-up administrative services firm), marketing and sales (Oland Specialty Beer Company, Labatt Brewing Company Ltd. and Canadian Tire Corporation).
