Mike provides support in the field and laboratory for silvicultural research in the boreal forest and the development of models used to forecast stand development.

Professional activities / interests

  • Led the development of two national information systems to monitor and predict forest-fire activity, including the National Wildland Fire Information System
  • Developed strategic plans and frameworks for two global information networks related to disaster management and forestry
  • Used a knowledge management approach to establish a modelling framework for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency
