Joanne Egan

Senior Advisor, Knowledge Mobilization

I am a professional science communicator with NRCan’s Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Division. I lead strategic communications planning, writing and editing, web and social-media wrangling, and all manner of intra- and inter-departmental collaboration on adaptation communications. I work at the epicenter of a massive network of climate change experts including scientists, engineers, and community practitioners, as well as representatives of Indigenous organizations, all orders of government, NGOs and professional associations.

I’m currently leading:

  • The fully digital delivery of Canada in a Changing Climate, the national assessment of how and why Canada’s climate is changing; the impacts of these changes on our communities, environment, and economy; and how we are adapting (a series of digital reports from 2019 to 2023);
  • Knowledge mobilization around Canada’s Climate Change Adaptation Platform, its sector- and issue-based working groups and funding programs;
  • Follow me on X @CanadaAdapts, for the latest on climate change impacts and adaptation in Canada.
