Manager of the Import Conformity Assessment Office where seed import records are evaluated.

Current research and/or projects

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s Variety Verification Program ensures the efficacy and quality, in terms of varietal purity and identity, of Canadian variety registration and pedigreed seed certification systems, while the assessment of seed lots imported into Canada helps safeguard the country and importers against noxious weeds and poor quality seed.

Research and/or project statements

  • Verification program for varieties registered in Canada and within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

  • Development of training material for inspectors.

  • Assessment of Canadian seed import records.

Professional activities / interests

  • Assessment of varietal purity and identity, using morphological characteristics, during experimental plot testing for over 30 different crop types.

  • Assessment of the conformity of Canadian and international seed analysis certificates.

  • Participation in working groups to develop specific instructions for seed field inspectors’ inspection procedures.
