Research Scientist - Molecular Ecotoxicology Specialist

Initiate, develop and execute research projects in aquatic ecotoxicology especially in method development in molecular ecotoxicology.

Current research and/or projects

Contribution to the protection and conservation of aquatic ecosystems

  • Molecular ecotoxicology of aquatic contaminants; development of biomarkers/bioassays to measure the cumulative effects of emerging substances (pharmaceuticals, rare earth elements and nanotoxicology) in aquatic ecosystems
  • Ecotoxicity evaluation of complex mixtures such as municipal effluents and industrial (oil sands) effluents.
  • Cumulative effects of global warming in freshwater mussels and fish
  • Development of environmantal DNA approaches for the presence of transgenic organisms (BT-corn) and cyanobacteria.
  • Study of the quality of the Saint-Lawrence estuary (Tadoussac sector) by determining various biochemical and physiological effects in soft-shell clams with the partnership of Parks Canada.
  • Non-linear modelling of biological effects using wave theory. Impacts of pollution on periodic rythms in aquatic organisms.
