Erin Gaucher-Loksts

Research Scientist

Erin Gaucher-Loksts is a research scientist at CanmetENERGY facility in Varennes, Quebec. She works on projects related to building-integrated photovoltaics, photovoltaic potential in the built environment as well as developing a platform for tracking smart grid and renewable energy standards.

Current research and/or projects

  • Identify standardization/guidance gaps, especially with respect to building-integrated photovoltaics and foster activities to fill these gaps
  • Identify issues that require further research or that need to be addressed in standards and codes Test bench scale building-integrated photovoltaic system performance
  • Monitor and evaluate pilot and real-life building-integrated photovoltaic system performance
  • Evaluation of the country-wide photovoltaic potential in the built environment
  • Design and develop a database and user interface to collect, evaluate and prioritize smart grid and renewable energy standards

Research and/or project statements

  • Manage experimental data from existing monitored building-integrated photovoltaic systems
  • Prepare and test a demonstration project using building-integrated photovoltaics
  • Identify issues that require further research or that need to be addressed in standards and codes
  • Assess photovoltaic potential in the built environment, including the technical, economic and market potential

  • Canadian expert representative for the International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems Program Task 15 on building-integrated photovoltaics
  • Participation in the ASHRAE TC 6.7 Solar and Other Renewables subcommittee
