Process development for liquid transportation biofuels (renewable diesel, biojet).

Research and/or project statements

  • Upgrading biomass-derived intermediates to advanced liquid biofuels

  • Leading R&D thrust on in-process upgrading biomass pyrolysis vapors

  • Lignin-derived “drop-in” renewable diesel fuels for rail applications

  • Production of biojet fuel components from various biomass-derived intermediates

Professional activities / interests

R&D expertise covers a broad range of fuel processing:

  • Extensive knowledge and research experience in alternative fuel processing from biomass, especially in the production of renewable jet and diesel fuel components from various biomass-derived intermediates, hydrogen production from glycerol, biodiesel via rapid transesterification of vegetable oil and higher alcohol synthesis from landfill gas

  • Solid knowledge and research experience in fossil fuel processing including hydrorefining and hydrocracking catalyst development, wax development for dynamite emulsion, kinetics on hydrogen production from methane, Claus process evaluation and selective aromatic ring opening process development
