High resolution and high precision measurement of ground deformation with Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) caused by earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, and anthropogenic subsidence due to mining and extraction of oil/gas, and groundwater.

  • Mapping subsidence and heave in Alberta's oil sands CSS and SAGD operations (in collaboration with the Alberta Energy Regulator)
  • Integrated Measurement, Monitoring and Verification (MMV) for Geological CO2 Storage (in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Canada, Canadian universities and commercial organizations)
  • Cumulative Impact Monitoring Program, A multi-scale assessment of cumulative impacts in the northern Mackenzie Basin (in collaboration with the NWT provincial government and Canadian universities)
