Dr. JICHUL BAE

Current research and/or projects

  • Weed and invasive plant ecology
  • Integrated weed management in horticultural cropping systems
  • Herbicide application technology in horticultural cropping systems
  • Herbicide resistance

Research and/or project statements

  • My research program focuses on 1) understanding ecology of agronomic weed and invasive plant species; 2) identifying weak links in the life cycle of weed and invasive plant species and 3) developing sustainable weed and invasive plant mamangement tools and strategies.
  • My research program currently evaluates the feasibility/viability of several winter cover cropping systems as sustainable weed management in Canadian horticultural cropping systems.
  • The knowledge generated helps us reduce reliance on herbicide use and so prevents herbicide resistance development and spread. It also advances knowledge, tools and practices to reduce persistent and emerging weed issues that jeopardize agricultural cropping system.
