Dr. Atiq Rehman

As a Senior Scientific Project Coordinator at Bureau of Nutritional Sciences, Food Directorate, Dr. Rehman's work contributes towards achieving Health Canada's mission to help Canadians maintain and improve their health. Food Directorate is the federal health authority responsible for establishing policies, setting standards and providing advice and information on the safety and nutritional value of food. As a senior regulatory officer, Dr. Rehman provides scientific leadership, guidance and direction to multi-disciplinary projects pertaining to the nutritional quality and safety of foods in Canada including foods derived using biotechnology (plant or animal) or other emerging technologies (such as nanotechnology).
He is also a member of the Canadian Standards Association's Technical Committee who recently drafted first national standard on cellulosic nanomaterials. Dr. Rehman regularly contributes on a number of international regulatory initiatives related to food safety led by OECD (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) and Codex Alimentarius (WHO/FAO).
