I am a plant pathologist with the Ottawa Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, in Ottawa, Ontario. My research focuses on field crop disease surveillance and detection of new species or virulence strains of pathogens causing economically important diseases in Eastern Canada such as cereal rusts, powdery mildew and Fusarium head blight (FHB), and identification and development of disease-resistant germplasms and effective biological and integrated disease management strategies.

Research and/or project statements

-Develop screening techniques and identify new sources of resistance to FHB, powdery mildew and rusts in wheat, barley and oat.

-Conduct annual cereal crop disease surveys and monitor pathogen population dynamics and virulence profiles of economically important crop diseases for Eastern Canada.

-Develop effective biological and integrated disease management strategies for FHB of small grain cereals and root rots of soybean.
