The adjacency effect can distort the spectral signal of water, and it is a major challenge in remote sensing of water in close proximity to land, for instance.  T-Mart is a 3D radiative-transfer solver that simulates the adjacency effect for such situations.  T-Mart was collaboratively developed with the Shallow Water Earth Observation Laboratory, University of Ottawa [Remote Sensing | Ottawa | Shallow Water Earth Observation Lab (shallowwaterlab.com)].  T-Mart can be found in Wu, Y., Knudby, A., and Lapen, D.R.
